Overview

ERO Architects Home Office

There’s a reason ERO Architects is the premier architectural and engineering firm in South Texas. We embrace our community roots and have a deep respect for the land, people and history of our region. That respect is prominent in our design philosophy and what sets us apart is our holistic approach to each project. Our clients become partners in the planning and development of each design. The results are solutions that meet or surpass client needs and expectations.

Established in 2001, ERO Architects is an award-winning architectural firm with success in Texas public sector design services. Founder and managing partner Eli R. Ochoa, PE, AIA, a native of the Rio Grande Valley, established this multi-disciplinary firm to specialize in the public sector because of his strong belief that architecture and design can impact learning environments. The firm built its reputation on a vision to transform architecture by incorporating learnable, teachable and communal philosophies into our designs, thus meeting the sustainable needs of each community’s unique identity and providing projects on time and on budget.

Our experience with educational institutions is vast and we are pleased to have served on more than 200 school district, community college, technical college, university and municipal projects. Eli fosters the belief that each project approach is client-focused and designed to meet the client’s unique needs and requirements.

Brian Godinez, an innovative thinker and marketer, joined the firm in 2007 bringing a proven track record in creating results-driven marketing.

A certified MBE, HUB and DBE firm, ERO Architects enjoys a professional reputation of honesty and integrity. ERO Architects is a certified minority business enterprises (MBEs) with the Southwest Minority Supplier Development Council and the Houston Minority Supplier Development Council.

Message from Eli R. Ochoa

Eli R. Ochoa, PE, AIA

At ERO Architects we live by a simple design philosophy of respecting the land, people and history. These three tenets form an emphasis of culture, which is fully integrated into our design approach. ERO specializes in designing educational facilities in such a way that focuses on optimum learning. The “psychology of learning” entails that students perform much better in environments they feel good in.

At ERO, we believe that architecture can play a key role in reducing the drop-out rate of students by designing schools that focus on improving teaching and learning environments. We strive to have each educational environment learnable, teachable and communal.

With more than 30 years working in the education arena, I know that relationships foster success and they are built around people utilizing a high degree of listening and collaboration—two values we stress adamantly at ERO Architects. We work hard to combine our education, experience, innovation and collaboration on each design project to reflect and enhance the needs of teachers, administrators, students and families; exceeding expectations and delivering educational projects on-time and on-budget (if not below). As a former school board trustee, I have the ability to provide design solutions coming from an education administrator's point-of-view.

For us, our goal is to deliver. We believe that the great staff we have assembled, along with the best technology platform in the industry, are key to our success. The firm strives to maintain a culture of client service.

We want our facilities to be sustainable—built to last—as well as being an extraordinary instrument for learning. Our emphasis is on the use of the right materials with special attention to the orientation of the building. We believe this can help improve energy efficiency with the best utilization of the land, prevailing breezes, sun angles and shading as well as the addition of native landscaping, renewable energy programs, and outdoor classrooms and social settings. Our designs provide healthy and comfortable environments that help teachers teach and students learn, and hopefully promote an environmental stewardship in their communities.

Thank you for your interest in ERO Architects. We are in the business of relationships, and we work hard to develop and keep them. Please contact me anytime if you have a question, comment or wish to stop by and visit us at ERO Architects.
