Edinburg Police Training Facility
The City of Edinburg’s new Police Training Facility means the community no longer has to send its police officers and cadets elsewhere for essential training and continuing education courses. Edinburg for years had to send its officers to Harlingen, San Antonio, Austin, and other Texas cities to receive the necessary training and ongoing education courses.
Now with an ERO-designed, 9600-gross-square-foot facility, Edinburg’s finest can stay at home and get the training they need. The facility is being used to provide specialized training and the continuing education courses that are mandated by the state for needed certifications. There are three offices, two classrooms, a grand conference room, and a print room in the new facility. The Edinburg Police Department is affiliated with the law enforcement training programs provided by the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council. This coordination of efforts leads to regional programs being offered at the Edinburg training facility. Law enforcement officers from area cities now come to Edinburg for training. This brings specialized instructors to Edinburg, which benefits the city and law enforcement officers in the area.
